Our Founder, Eliza Twist, came up with the idea whilst working at an investment bank in London — waking at 5am, answering client calls late into the night, and constantly tethered to her phone. To protect her sleep and mental health, she made a bold decision: to leave her phone outside the bedroom for good.

Having slept with an iPhone since the age of 11, this small act transformed her nights and her wellbeing. She encouraged her mum and close friends to try the same. The results were immediate: better sleep, clearer minds, and calmer mornings.

But after a break-in at Eliza’s apartment, everything changed. Her mother, though now a firm believer in switching off, refused to be unreachable at night ever again. Eliza searched for a device that could allow people to disconnect while still remaining contactable in an emergency — but it didn’t exist.

So she built it.
